ABSTRACT

The study aims to evaluate the influence of the Guidance and Counseling Program and Services at Guangdong University of Science and Technology on students’ psychological well-being. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research collected data from 800 students across various grades at Guangdong University of Science and Technology to assess the extent of implementation and effectiveness of the guidance and counseling services. The results indicate that students generally perceive the guidance and counseling program as highly effective in achieving its objectives, implementing activities, providing resources, and conducting monitoring and evaluation. Students demonstrated high levels of psychological well-being across dimensions such as autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relationships, life purpose, and self-acceptance. Additionally, a significant positive correlation was found between the implementation of the program and students’ psychological well-being. Despite these positive findings, challenges were identified in areas such as resource acquisition, monitoring and feedback mechanisms, activity participation, and facility insufficiencies. Based on these findings, a plan of action was proposed to enhance the guidance and counseling program by increasing promotional efforts, resource allocation, feedback mechanisms, student engagement, and facility improvements, with the goal of enhancing students’ psychological well-being.
