ABSTRACT
This descriptive research aimed to assess the employment services of Pingxiang University and the employability skills of its Physical Education graduates. As its participants, PE staff were randomly sampled and PE graduates were purposively sampled to represent batches of graduates. The study employed mixed-research approach involving the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative descriptive design was used to describe the profile of the participants in terms of gender, year of graduation, and Physical Education specialization. Likewise, it described the extent of implementation of employment services of the university. Also, it described the level of employability skills of Physical Education graduates. Furthermore, it described the level of satisfaction of the staff in the employment services of the university. Moreover, the study ascertained if there exist significant differences in the extent of implementation of employment services of the university and level of employability skills, both when grouped according to profile variables.
Also, it ascertained the significant relationship between the extent of implementation of the employment services of the University and each of the level of employability skills and the level of satisfaction of the employment services of the University. In addition, it also explored the problems encountered by the participants on implementation of employment services of the university, and the plan of action to improve the university’s employment services. Results show that both alumni and staff assess the extent of implementation of employment services of the university to a very great extent. They also assess the graduates’ level of employability skills for both hard and soft skills to be very high. Their assessment on their level of satisfaction of employments services is similarly very high. There are no significant differences in both groups’ assessment of extent of implementation of employment services but there are significant differences in the level of employability skills of the graduates in terms of teaching skills, coaching skills, communication skills, and leadership skills when they are grouped according to year of graduation.
