ABSTRACT

This study takes the swimming course of Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Technology as the object, comprehensively evaluates its implementation, and analyzes its relationship with students’ swimming ability (knowledge, skills and attitude) and participation. The study adopts a combination of questionnaire survey and interview, and randomly selects 120 students and 15 swimming course teachers to participate in the survey. The results show that although the swimming course has achieved remarkable results in promoting students’ mastery of swimming techniques, physical fitness improvement and safety awareness cultivation, it still has deficiencies in the allocation of teaching resources, personalization of teachers’ professional development, and application of personalized teaching methods.Students’ needs for the accessibility of teaching resources, the breadth and depth of course content, and practical opportunities are not fully met. The study further revealed a significant correlation between course implementation and students’ ability development, and identified the main problems and challenges faced in the implementation process. This study finally proposed a practice-based improvement plan, including strengthening the allocation of funding sources, optimizing course design, improving the quality of teacher training, and introducing customized teaching tools to better meet students’ satisfaction needs and promote the overall improvement of course teaching quality. This study provides an important reference for the reform of swimming courses in vocational colleges and also provides valuable information for the practice and research of related physical education teaching.
