ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the extent of implementation of inventory management among grocery stores in Centro, Tuguegarao City. It employed a mixed-method research design that integrated both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative phase utilized a descriptive survey design to measure the extent of implementation of inventory management practices, while the qualitative phase explored the problems encountered by grocery store employees in the course of implementation. The study involved two groups of participants—employees of the grocery stores, consisting of managers and staff, and sixty (60) customers who regularly patronize these establishments. The findings revealed that inventory management in the grocery stores of Centro, Tuguegarao City was implemented to a great extent and in an excellent manner. Such effectiveness was largely attributed to the employees’ skills, commitment, and systematic work habits. The study further revealed that effective inventory management contributed significantly to product availability, reduced incidences of stockouts, and enhanced customer satisfaction. However, it also identified challenges related to inventory turnover and the timely updating of stock records, which occasionally affected operational efficiency. Overall, the study highlights the critical role of sound inventory management in ensuring business sustainability and customer loyalty in the retail sector. It recommends continuous employee training, technological integration, and the adoption of more responsive monitoring systems to further improve inventory control. Strengthening these areas can enhance operational performance, optimize stock movement, and support the long-term competitiveness of grocery stores in Tuguegarao City.
