ABSTRACT
This study investigates the motivation and learning strategies employed by Grade 9 students at St. Joseph’s College of Baggao in learning Filipino as a second or foreign language. By adopting a domain-specific perspective, the study contributes to the existing literature on motivation in language learning, providing empirical evidence on effective motivational strategies in this context. Practical implications are highlighted for teachers, curriculum developers, school administrators, parents, and students, emphasizing ways to enhance students’ motivation and learning outcomes. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers and educators in promoting and facilitating Filipino language learning. Furthermore, the study encourages readers to reflect on the role of motivation in their teaching and learning practices and opens new avenues for further research on language learning motivation across diverse contexts and settings.
