ABSTRACT

School–enterprise cooperation is a vital strategy for enhancing the relevance and effectiveness of vocational education amid globalization and rapid technological change. This study assessed the implementation of school–enterprise cooperation at Guangdong Vocational and Technical College, focusing on cooperation objectives, policies, processes and procedures, enterprise activities, teaching resource development, and teacher training. It also examined participants’ levels of engagement and satisfaction, their relationship, and the challenges encountered during implementation. A mixed-methods research design was employed. Quantitative data were gathered through a researcher-developed survey administered to 210 teachers, students, and corporate executives, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation. Qualitative data from open-ended questions were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results indicated a moderate to high level of implementation and a significant positive relationship between engagement and satisfaction. However, challenges such as limited enterprise motivation, weak policy support, insufficient communication, and constraints in teacher participation were identified. The study provides evidence-based recommendations to strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of school–enterprise cooperation in vocational education.
