ABSTRACT
The study investigated on the students’ engagement in student organizations and their level of psychological well-being. In addition, the study obtained information on the challenges encountered by the student participants in their engagement with student organization activities. Mixed research approach was adopted. A descriptive correlational research design was used for the quantitative aspect of the study. The study subjects were freshmen and sophomores at Guangdong University of Science and Technology. The data were collected by questionnaire survey. Descriptive statistics were used for the quantitative data. The results showed that college students have a greater extent of engagement in academic-related activities and non-academic-related activities. In addition, students have a moderate level of psychological well-being. Also, there is a significant correlation between the students’ participation in student organizations activities and their psychological well-being. The problems and challenges students encountered in student organization activities include time management, conflict between studies and student organizations activities, interpersonal pressure and competition, role conflict and responsibility, and social exclusion and loneliness.A plan of action to enhance students’ engagement to student organizations’ activities was proposed based on the result of the study.
