ABSTRACT

This descriptive research aimed to explore the relationship between the implementation of Physical Education program of Gaozhou No.1 Middle School, the teachers’ level of competence and the students’ level of skill in Physical Education. Premised within a mixed research design, it involved 50 teachers, and 858 students selected through random sampling. Data needed for the study was obtained through a survey questionnaire. Furthermore, the study found a positive correlation between the extent of implementation of Physical Education program in the middle school and the teachers’ level of competence in teaching. The study also identified challenges in the implementation process, such as insufficient legal and regulatory protection, course setting and arrangement, insufficient parental and social support, and insufficient facility resources. These findings served as input for the proposed action plan to improve the implementation of Physical Education program in the Middle School, the teachers’ level of competence in teaching and the students’ level of skill.
